Ten on Tuesday

  1. People are allowing this whole back-to-school thing to interfere with summer. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's summer until the Autumnal Equinox on September 22. Get with the program and keep on enjoying summer!
  2. I don't watch television enough to warrant the cable bill. Believe it or not, this former couch potato has cancelled her cable. If there's something on cable that I really want to watch, it will be on at the gym. Two birds, one stone.
  3. Mmm ... brownies. I still have over half a pan at home, from my baking last week. I'm going to have to freeze them because I'll be damned if I'm gonna toss them out. So very delicious!
  4. John and Colleen. That's it, just John and Colleen - two of my favorite people who just LOVE to be named in the blog. Have you met John and Colleen? If not, well ... you have no idea what you're missing.
  5. My bedroom looks like a cyclone hit it. I did laundry on Saturday; it's still in the basket. I haven't made the bed in about a week, and those of you who know me know that I generally make the bed every day, because I think it looks pretty. There are random articles of clothing (alas, all mine) strewn haphazardly all over the place, hairballs underneath the heat registers and none of my jewelry has been put away for about a month. It's embarrassing and sad and I have no one to blame but myself. So now that it's in writing, I'll have to clean it when I get home from the gym tonight. Really ... how can I stand to sleep in there?
  6. Sometimes, it takes a little effort to get what you need. There are moments I like to have people around me. That can be tough, since the only beings who share my space with me are two cats and up until last night that huge mosquito-like thing that got a bad case of shoe at around 9 p.m. So when I need people, I have to drive. But it's so worth it. A little time in the car brings me to Bex, Matt and Alice, or Clan Farbo, Clan Bieritz, or even the entire state of Wisconsin. A little planning and I can meet up with pretty much anyone. So be warned; you never know when I'll show up. And yes, James, that includes you.
  7. The weather lately has been perfect; warm or hot during the day, cooling off nicely overnight. I get an awesome cross-breeze in my messy bedroom, and sleeping under a quilt is just heaven. Once I learn how to ignore the mess. I have really got to clean.
  8. I'm kinda having a platypus day. Feeling lumpy and ugly, but I suspect it will pass. Much like a kidney stone.
  9. Made Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps for lunch today. I'm a little in love with myself now.
  10. Seeing Hello Dave over the weekend really made me miss college. We had some incredible good times back then, piled onto the sofa at la casa de Maggie, or trespassing, or dreaming about our future, or huddled around a corner table at Friends plotting world domination. I miss who I was back then. I know I can't go back, but I'm trying to figure out how to bring the best parts of Maggie Then into the world of Maggie Now.

Is that a yellow flower at the top of your blog? What kind of yellow flower is that? Love you and miss you.

I don't want to enjoy summer. I want autumn to come. It is my favorite season. Besides Chris returns to school next week. Summer IS over.

Love you!

It was great seeing you this weekend! Alice has been randomly coming up to me saying, "Uh, Maheeeee?" Then she gets this look on her face that says "Where the hell is that fun person who came here on Saturday who doesn't scold me when I'm bad and let's me put blocks on her nose??"

Yeah, you need to come visit again real soon. :)

Love you.

Rae: That would be an ADYF - another damn yellow flower. But then you knew that, didn't you?

Janie: How can you be so cute and so wrong at the same time? Summer isn't over until I say it is, and that will be awhile.

Bex: That made me cry. I love that Alice enjoyed my visit almost as much as I did. I smile every time I think of her ... which is a lot!

Twitter keeps asking me to sign in on your blog. Doesn't on Mike's. What gives?

Hmmm, Daddy-O, I will have to check my settings and see why I am different from Mike. Sorry!
